The first and most crucial element that I address in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I take steps to make this process as smooth and as transparent as possible. I recognize each individual comes in with a unique story and different set of experiences. This calls for a curated and individualized approach that is tailored to your specific needs. I do not provide a "one size fits all" treatment. The first few sessions will include us creating a treatment plan together to ensure that we are on the same page and working towards the same goals. I check in and update this often.
I pride myself on being savvy with technology. I recognize that this is not everyone's strong suit, and it certainly is not a requirement to participate in therapy with me. By taking advantage of the features of the video platform I use, we are able to brainstorm ideas using a digital whiteboard which will be saved as a PDF and you can keep for future reference. I also incorporate screen sharing so that we can access useful media resources together. When I recommend resources, I like to show them to you as opposed to just giving you a phone number or address to check out.
I utilize evidenced based interventions coming from the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework. I also have experience utilizing interventions from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person centered therapy, and mindfulness. I also utilize outcome questionnaires routinely in order to measure progress in an objective fashion to help guide the treatment plan.
